In 2005, after tragically losing both his father and brother in a short space of time, Nicholas Ashley-Cooper took over St Giles House and the title of Earl of Shaftesbury.
Nicholas has a true appreciation of the history and heritage of his great house and wanted to ensure this was respected in the design. Different ‘layers’ of history are shown through the traditional elements that have been taken from different generations. To suit this unique style, anything new that was added to the house had to be in-keeping with the estate’s original look and be ‘there to stay’. Drummonds bath and brassware perfectly fitted this brief – blurring the barriers between the home’s historical antiques and more contemporary looks, such as the wall-mounted shower.
