Quirky copper accents and luxury surfaces transformed this kitchen into the perfect family space

John McNeil, Designer and Director of Haus12, created a stylish yet minimalistic space for this family, after the homeowners explained “they wanted to make a complete change to how the home worked, and especially the kitchen. It was going to be the new ‘go to’ room”.

This elegant and chic new design meets
the needs of the homeowner in terms of both style and function. A unique combination of lacquered gloss and matt concrete-effect surfaces clad the kitchen and add luxurious glamour with an industrial edge. The impressive 30mm ‘Illusion’ island worktop in Natural Quartzite weighs in at over 400kg and
took a crane and six men to
get from the vehicle around
the property into position.

For a touch of colour, the design team at Haus12 added a reflective material in the antique bronze mirror panelling to all sides of the niche around the island, the result of which is stunning. Antique bronze mirror panelling is also used as a splashback behind the sink, giving depth and character to a large area that would have been an uninspiring empty wall.

Lighting is also a key feature of this kitchen design. Pendant lighting by Tom Dixon makes a stunning centrepiece in
this kitchen and bounces light throughout the space. The choice of designer pendants not only adds function but creates organic shapes and warmth which offset the clean simple lines of the space. The choice of lighting in the rest of the space was fully adjustable LEDs with additional automatic drawer and cabinet lighting.
