Hub Kitchens didn’t compromise on style when designing this functional, family kitchen

When the owners of this four-bedroom family house, set in a conservation area, embarked on a major renovation and extension project, top of their list was a stunning kitchen that was sleek and modern in design, but most importantly functional and integral to spending time with family and friends.

As the couple – a senior gas trader and housewife – had two young children, in relocating the kitchen to what would be a new extension to the property, they took the opportunity to start with a clean slate and think carefully about the requirements of modern family life.

“We were looking for something modern yet functional as we have a young family. We wanted it
to ow with the open plan look we were going for. The kitchen needed additional storage than we had previously. However, as we were having an extension, the designer had a blank canvas to work from.”

The family approached Hub Kitchens after the company came highly recommended by friends and, on meeting co-founder Daniele Brutto, they immediately felt con dent that they had made the right choice of designer.

“Our designer totally understood what we wanted. He spent a lot of time with us to get to know us.
We went through lots of materials to see what we liked. After our consultation, Daniele produced a design for us. He was so in tune with what we wanted and what we liked that we didn’t change a thing on his design. Considering our kitchen was ordered before our extension was even built, he did a fab job, working very closely with our architect and builder,” explained the homeowner.

Designer, Daniele, elaborated: “I wanted to create a really sharp, clean look with subtle texture changes to tie into the polished concrete floor. Colour and material inspiration started with the concrete floor as I knew the client was going for this finish from the start. The client loved the Okite Carrara Quartz worktop we showed them, which contains subtle grey veining on an off-white base colour. Quartz is super functional and this marble look gave the kitchen a warmer homely feel, fusing the contrasting unit colours and floor perfectly.”
