The British Standard design team were tasked with creating a beautiful kitchen to suit this unique and historically rich property, located on the shores of Mooray Firth in Scotland. The recently renovated Fearn airfield control tower, also known as HMS OWL, has a very authentic atmosphere and captivating aesthetics that reflect the building’s original use in World War II.
The property itself was totally transformed by its owners, from an uninhabitable concrete shell into a beautifully rustic and welcoming home. The British Standard team created an intriguing deep black scheme for this kitchen, which adds a contemporary twist to the space, while the European timber worktops, exposed brick walls and large range cooker pay homage to the property’s history. The cup handles on the cabinetry cleverly offset the gorgeously gothic colouration while their traditionally-inspired shape pulls together the elements of old and new to craft a perfectly balanced aesthetic.British Standard | britishstandardcupboards.co.uk
