Situated in an Edwardian house on the outskirts of the capital of style and sophistication: London, this traditional property is owned by a chic French couple with discerning tastes. The house is adorned with a menagerie of precious collectables and sentimental pieces that give a unique, warm atmosphere.
The kitchen was originally positioned in another area of the house – in a dark, narrow galley formation – but upon discovering the light filled walls and mass of space in this room, the owners decided this space would make a perfect kitchen. High ceilings, heavy coving, wide doors and sash windows were all original features in the room and made it feel very grand and yet homely, while an original wooden floor bought warmth into the scheme. deVOL crafted a wall of fitted cabinetry, which included a double pantry, full-height fridge and freezer, and cupboard storage – all of which allowed the owners to neatly hide away their utensils and appliances – giving the space a clean, uncluttered atmosphere that feels more akin to a living room than a kitchen.
The cabinetry is finished in a bespoke shade, sitting somewhere between emerald green and turquoise. This vibrant hue offsets the deep warmth of the flooring and rustic wooden table, while white painted borders tie the whole scheme together. At the other end of the room resides a beautifully traditional Lacanche range cooker in a light white hue that co-ordinates with the white borders of the room and the pale worktops, while Bella Brass hardware and deVOL’s Aged Brass taps, add an opulent twist.
This perfectly positioned kitchen is bordered with French doors that lead out onto a large wild garden that receives ample sunlight and is extremely private – giving this property an altogether quintessentially English countryside tone.deVOL | devolkitchens.co.uk
