Cooker hood specialist, Westin, is celebrating the success of its seven-year team member Andy Munro, after he officially completed the Virgin London Marathon in a time of 4 hours and 34 minutes.
After ten previous attempts to gain a place in the iconic athletic event, Westin’s technical supervisor, Andy, finally gained his place in the race on behalf of the charity “Tommy’s”.
Raising funds to research stillbirths, miscarriages and premature births, Andy chose this fantastic charity after both he and his wife experienced the tragic loss of his child, Alana, ten years ago at a 21 week gestation.
Having completed the Edinburgh marathon twice already, Andy said he was determined the run in the London event. He remarked “It was frustrating to keep missing out on a place over ten years, but I am so proud that my perseverance paid off. Running London was amazing.
“The crowds were brilliant and my wife Karen and our two songs Lachlan, age 9, and Ewan, age 6, were there along the route to cheer me on. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, and to all my work colleagues at Westin for their support too.”
Andy has raised an astonishing £1,600 through his marathon efforts and is just over half way to his target of £3,000.
