#ThrowbackThursday Zaha Hadid is honoured with posthumous 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award

This Thursday we pay tribute to the life and work of architect Zaha Hadid, who was honoured at last year’s Designer Kitchen & Bathroom Awards with a posthumous presentation of the Simon Taylor Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Internationally renown for her striking and varied projects around the world, Zaha was an innovator who challenged the status quo of architectural form and construction.

The architectural community was shocked at news of her sudden death, just over a year ago, in March 2016. Even now there remains a real sense of loss within the industry – especially after Zaha’s Brit Awards Statue design swansong.

Given her far-reaching impact and influence, it seemed entirely appropriate that she should be awarded the Simon Taylor Award for Lifetime Achievement, named in memory of a talented young kitchen designer who won one of the very first awards when the Designer Kitchen & Bathroom Awards started 14 years ago.
