“Bringing intuitive technology and functionality to the appliance category that helps take the friction out of household chores is chief among our goals as we innovate for the smart home,” said Brett Dibkey, Whirlpool Corporation vice president, brand and strategy in North America. “Our consumers are sophisticated and expect their appliances to work smarter, not harder.”
At the forefront of smart technology, Whirlpool has this week revealed some exciting collaborations, with some of the world’s biggest technology companies:
With voice command capabilities throughout all Whirlpool’s Smart kitchen appliance range, families can ask the Google Assistant how much time is left on the microwave, set and adjust cooking modes, set temperature and time on the oven, start a cycle on the dishwasher, set temperatures in the refrigerator, start, stop and pause the washing machine, or ask how much time is left on the dryer.
Amazon’s Alexa and Virtual Dash
As well as offering similar functions to the Google Assistant with Alexa, Whirlpool’s Smart refrigerators will allow families to order ingredients or supplies on demand, straight from their LCD touchscreens, with Amazon Virtual Dash.
Through the Apple Watch, alerts are sent once a load of laundry is complete, so no more guessing or checking is required. Consumers will also be able to remotely communicate with their ovens through the Apple Watch, marking the first time an appliance maker has connected its products with the Apple Watch.Whirlpool | whirlpool.co.uk
