Whirlpool Corporation has announced its acquirement of Yummly Inc, a personalised digital recipe platform offering recipe recommendations and cooking resources.
Made in an effort to strengthen Whirlpool’s commitment to delivering useful smart home consumer experiences, Yummly boasts more than 20 million registered users and is one of the world’s largest digital recipe platforms.
Commenting on this new business venture, Whirlpool’s vice president for integrated business units, Brett Dibkey, remarked “Yummly brings an outstanding platform on which to begin building our digital product offering. We look forward to the many possibilities to create value for our consumers with this acquisition.”
As a wholly-owned subsidary, Yummly will continue to operate from its headquarters in Redwood City, California.
Brian Witlin, CEO of Yummly, added “We are extremely excited about the opportunities and innovations we can create with Whirlpool Corporation. Whirlpool’s purposeful and consumer-centric approach to innovation aligns perfectly with what we do, who we are, and what we seek to create for consumers as the kitchen becomes ever-more digitally connected.”
The transaction is expected to be finalised by the end of this month and will mark the beginning of Whirlpool’s journey in becoming a leader in seamlessly integrated kitchens.Whirlpool Corporation | whirlpoolcorp.com
