Blum UK has announced that a crew of 16 employees will be taking part in this year’s Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Race, in aid of the charity Age UK.
Renown as one of the area’s main fundraising events, dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition involving a team of up to 16 people paddling a boat with a drummer at the front beating a rhythmic time, and a helm at the tail steering a straight course across the end line.
Blum UK hope to raise £1,000 by the end of June ahead of the event on 25 June 2017 at Willen Lake, Milton Keynes. The willing team includes: Andrea Hillier, Kathryn Jenkins, Billie Watts, Emma Fletcher, Helen Mossman, Russell Green, Andrew House, Rhys Peak, Peter Sharratt, Amanda Hughes, Jonathan Wan, Mark Richardson, Thomas Winfield, Tibor Magos, Wayne Macainsh, Ben Pollard, David Sanders Snr., David Sanders Jr., Allen Carter, Rob Guerin, and Craig Johnson.
Commenting on Blum’s new venture, crew member and sales administrator Emma Fletcher stated “Blum in Austria is very well known for supporting local causes and we aim to do the same here in Milton Keynes. We entered the festival primarily for a bit of fun, and to raise money for a very deserving cause, but have steadily become more competitive – we hope the rest of the company will be out there cheering for us on the day – Go the BUK-aneers!”Blum UK | blum.com
