Smallbone of Devizes has unveiled the new Smallbone Kelly Hoppen Collection

Smallbone of Devizes has unveiled the new Smallbone Kelly Hoppen Collection, in the first collaboration of a long-term relationship with award-winning British designer Kelly Hoppen MBE.

Made up of a variety of different materials and textures, the kitchen has been created with practicality and versatility in mind, with an emphasis on high quality craftsmanship.

Hoppen said: “Having designed so many homes, I knew what I wanted in a kitchen. As the hub of the home and the most important room in the house, a kitchen can be the hardest to get right so I wanted to give people something with depth and interest, that they could make their own, yet gives them some guidelines and help to create a stunning look.

“I created a palette of colours and textures that can be layered, so it doesn’t look ‘hard’ and functional. Whether you go with one look or combine textures it all works, whether you like an urban, cool edgy feel or a softer, lighter tone.”

Layers of Texture

Perhaps the most striking aspect of the range is the variety of textures and materials. These include textured oak; pure gloss lacquer; chainmail; honed black Indian granite; Bianco Carrara veined marble; painted basketwork; polished nickel; stainless steel; silver leafed mirror glass; handmade recycled cullet glass with mirror backing; and Silestone with a leather finish. Hoppen’s design layers and contrasts these textures for a fresh and clean look.

In signature Kelly Hoppen style, the colour palette uses Black, White and Taupe. It doesn’t need anything else says Hoppen, but could take adash of another strong colour in accessories or paint if required.

The collection includes a number of stand-out design pieces, including shelving with chain mail veiling, an up-lit dresser cabinet, and a Mondrian-inspired east-meets-west dresser.

The Smallbone technical team and craftsmen have crafted a number of clever interior additions to the kitchen too, including wine storage, cup holders, spice racks, china and glassware stores, trays for saucepans and casseroles, and a long-line larder.

It is the first time Smallbone of Devizes has created something in a modular form and the project has been purposely developed to appeal to a new consumer and be easily exportable. The Smallbone Kelly Hoppen Collection launches in London at the company’s Knightsbridge showroom. It will then be on display in other Smallbone showrooms – including New York and Russia – later in the year.
