Specialist bathroom products supplier Roper Rhodes Ltd, whose brands consist of Roper Rhodes, Laura Ashley Bathroom Collection, R2, Tavistock and Trade, has invested £10m in a new national distribution centre.
This investment follows a number of years of double-digit growth across all of Roper Rhodes Ltd’s brands. In the last four years the family-owned business has grown by 50%, resulting in the company requiring more space to help accommodate this, as well as future, growth.
The new premises will see the company consolidate all its warehouse space, which is currently split across a number of locations, into a new 200,000sq ft. facility located in a prime position on a nine-acre site in Portbury, Bristol. The heart of Roper Rhodes Ltd’s operations, including its design studio where its team of eight product designers create all the products within its portfolio, will remain in Bath.
With its close proximity to the M5 and M4 motorway network, Roper Rhodes Ltd’s new distribution centre is in an ideal location from which to operate a nationwide delivery service to retailers across the UK. The new site will also be the UK Customer Training Centre and house a suite of showrooms where the huge portfolio of product spanning all of the group brands will be displayed.
John Wright, Roper Rhodes Ltd’s newly appointed operations director, will be instrumental in coordinating the move and introducing the latest technologies in the new facility.
Roper Rhodes Ltd’s managing director Paul Roper said: “We’re delighted to unveil our new, state-of-the-art national distribution centre, which we plan to begin operating from in January 2017. Representing a multi-million pound investment for Roper Rhodes, our new facility will increase efficiency and enable us to continue to expand our business.”
