As part of PJH Group’s investment strategy into improving its service to customers and staff, the investment aims to improve vehicle efficiencies and service levels as well as boost the availability of the PJH Next-Day Delivery Service.
With an existing fleet that was over six years old, all vehicles have now been replaced with streamlined Euro 6 trucks that offer a much-improved MPG rate with associated efficiencies allowing PJH to realign its base and become more agile. To do this PJH has created a new process of vehicle routing which adopts a more flexible planning process, allowing for route optimisation that is more responsive to changes in customer demand. This equates to cost and environmental savings, with efficient routes meaning less miles travelled, less fuel consumed and CO2 savings.
Speaking of the investment, John Nobrega, Head of Operations at PJH’S Cannock depot, said, “By offering many more customers the Next-Day Delivery option on our own fleet will most certainly give us a competitive advantage in today’s tough market. With the new vehicles and improved routing procedures now in place, we can enable more postal districts throughout the UK to take advantage of daily deliveries – with up to 70% of all postal regions now having a daily delivery service. It’s great news for both our customers as well as the end-consumer.”
