In Hoover’s very own version of the Tour De France, Marketing Director of Hoover’s freestanding division Steve Macdonald and Sales Director of the company’s freestanding and built-in sector in Ireland, Kevin Finn took on an adventurous and challenging eight-day cycle ride.
The efforts of both directors were in aid of St. John’s Hospice in Wirral and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, both local charities to the company’s operations in Bromborough and Dublin. Macdonald and Finn managed to raise almost £3,000 for the two charities, but it wasn’t without its challenges: the eight-day ride saw the pair tackle a 1,200km cycle route, with punctures, concussion, and even a bike collision on route!
Marketing Director, Steve Macdonald commented: “The first two days were more difficult than expected as we had to take on some really tough terrain, including wood trails and semi gravel. However, the biggest setback was definitely my collision with the back of Kevin’s bike! Luckily my helmet did its job, which allowed us to continue on to easier and more enjoyable days.
“We’re both really proud of completing the cycle and I’m thrilled to have raised vital funds to contribute towards the fantastic work that St. John’s Hospice undertake every single day.”
Kevin Finn added: “Despite a few minor setbacks it was an enjoyable experience and a great accomplishment. I’m so glad I’m able to make a donation to the children’s hospital. I’d like to thank everyone that donated for their generosity – your contributions will go a long way!”Hoover | hoover.co.uk
