New first year students from across the UK were joined by second and third year students for the first residential weekend of the academic year on the Kitchen Design Foundation Degree course at Buckinghamshire New University.
Among those who presented this time around were industry experts, Craig Condie from Blanco and Gary Baker from CDUK. Students also heard from a variety of keynote speakers including Director of Technical Practice at Aecom, Dale Sinclair, Fred Baier, who spoke about his extraordinary career and industry stalwarts Graham Hayden and Ray Isted, who gave a lively interactive talk on sales. Highlighting the calibre of visiting lecturers, Visiting Professor Johnny Grey, said, “These students are getting really top-notch lecturers – people that are at the highest level of their respective professions, offering expert insights. The great thing is they are also open to anyone in the kitchen industry to come along and attend – for free. They offer an unparalleled opportunity to learn more about areas that impact our business, that you are unlikely to hear about elsewhere.”
Chairman Craig Matson commented, “We offered a good balance of speakers from sales motivated talks where students were encouraged to participate; to some of our sponsors who brought their own unique expertise, through to an enlightening future-focused presentation. All in attendance agreed that it wasn’t just the students who were learning; clearly it’s never too late to keep up.”
