Following the international acclaim of her previous tile collections, Spanish born designer Patricia Urquiola has collaborated again with the Italian ceramic design house Mutina to create Cover – an innovative surface collection with cross-hatched, dotted and patterned designs.
Available in the UK exclusively from Domus, Cover marks one of Patricia Urquiola’s first ventures with large ceramic slabs. The unique collection came about from an experimental project in which clay was blended with a mixture of micro-grit – a light blend that acts as a base for slightly contrasting materials – with coloured modern patterns and modules applied using a silk-screen method. The results can be irregular, figurative or geometric.
Patricia Urquiola describes the collection as: “Large slabs with irregular patterns, with different intensity and density of colour, that are reminiscent of the variable landscape of the sky in which clouds move around continuously.”
Suitable for walls and floors, the collection comprises of 11 options in each colour – white, grey and black, including unglazed porcelain stoneware and decorated patterned versions, and comes in three sizes: 120 x 240, 120 x 120 and 30 x 120cm (each with rectified edges).
Domus’ W1 showroom is now exhibiting an installation of Cover which incorporates new room sets and displays.
