Here’s why choosing simple, flexible furniture could work best for your bathroom

With so many opposing trends coming into view in 2018, it can be difficult to decide what’s best for your bathroom – to opt for the on-trend, chic new style or select a simpler, long-lasting aesthetic. But deciding between practicality and prettiness isn’t fun… so don’t!

Selecting a range of simple, flexible furniture will ensure that your bathroom stands the test of time while leaving space for you to change up the style of the walls, floors and accessories to suit the current trends. Roper Rhodes System furniture collection is a great place to start – this flexible furniture features softly rounded corners and smooth lines. The range’s wall-mounted basin vanity units are available in four sizes: 500mm, 600mm, 800mm and 1,200mm; while each unit boasts a duo of soft-close drawers and can be fitted with a modern Isocast basin.

The Roper Rhodes units can be finished in a choice of six neutral shades, including: gloss Dark Clay, matt Carbon and Umbra, and paired with a System LED illuminated mirror, to create a fully functional, chic and simple vanity area. Then it’s time to add a splash of colour, texture or pattern – the beauty of focussing on minimalistic furniture is being able to chop and change the surrounding scheme to suit your needs.

Adding a wildly-patterned tiled floor will instantly liven up your space, or, if you’re a lover of boutique bathrooms, add an eccentric pendant light and some luxurious textures. While there are many ways to work a statement wall, too – often thought of as the trend of yesteryear, creating a statement wall doesn’t have to mean vibrantly floral wallpaper. Many different materials and textures can sit in the place of paint, including tiles – both metro and encaustic will work equally well, and simultaneously create a splashback for your basin area. Or why not try a wood effect? Choosing a raw, rustic wood-inspired material, instead of natural wood, means it will be suitable for the humid conditions in the bathroom while creating a striking scandi feel. Then finish off your scheme with carefully placed accessories, to craft a truly eclectic feel.
