Dare to be different – Inga Morris-Blincoe of Lifestyle Floors reveals the secrets behind beautiful flooring

We spoke to flooring, tiles and surfaces expert Inga Morris-Blincoe from Lifestyle Floors on how to make the most out of your flooring. Here’s what she had to say…

Whether you are giving your bathroom a complete overhaul or are looking to give it a new season update, installing a new floor is an easy way to give it a brand new look.  Re-tiling a bathroom floor can be an expensive and messy option, and grout can quickly look old and dirty, but an affordable and long lasting alternative is to use vinyl or Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT).  Vinyl is water resistant, has good insulation and is cost effective while LVT is both waterproof, durable and suitable for use with underfloor heating.  Patterned flooring is an excellent option for creating a bold dramatic look. Choose an elegant monochrome colour palette like Lifestyle Floors’ Delight in Charcoal or opt for Baroque Amadora for a Moroccan inspired tile effect.  Add warmth to a bathroom with a wood effect tile or opt for LVT in a stone effect – this creates a modern look but it is warm underfoot unlike traditional stone.

The top tips:

  1. We always recommend using a professional fitter to get the best possible result
  2. If you are going to lay your own flooring, vinyl is a cost-effective option
  3. To get the best results, you need a smooth and dry sub-floor which requires specialist knowledge
  4. Vinyl and LVT are water-resistant and easy to clean – they are an excellent choice for bathrooms
  5. Vinyl and LVT are available in a wide range of colours and designs and are a great way to make a statement
  6. LVT can be laid over underfloor heating making it a good option for bathrooms

Though practicality and durability are essential elements, flooring can look great too. Surfaces are becoming a new focal point in the bathroom, so dare to be different, opt for bold patterns, eclectic mixed styles and vibrant colours to truly enliven your space.
