TOTO is transforming the bathroom, with its high-tech spa-inspired products

Japanese sanitaryware manufacturer, TOTO, claim they are ‘elevating the bathroom from the merely functional to the restorative and meditative’. Two of the company’s latest designs, the ‘DaySpa’ shower, and the ‘Floating Tub’ both incorporate sophisticated technology which allows its user to feel as if they are having a professional spa experience.

The DaySpa shower promotes the economical use of water and can have a relaxing, refreshing or invigorating effect, depending on the user’s preferences. If an energising start to the day is required, the shower has an Active Wave setting which releases a powerful stream of water, while the Comfort Wave delivers a refreshing shower experience, but not at the expense of water wastage. All TOTO showers are equipped with a water flow limiter to ensure that they use considerably less water than conventional shower heads. A notable feature of this shower is its ‘Warm Spa’ effect. For the first time, the experience of a warm bath can be transferred into a shower, thanks to the immersive Warm Spa spray.

The Floating Tub has already drawn the attention of crowds at both CES 2018 and KBIS.

When creating the models, TOTO has been inspired by research that suggests sensory deprivation tanks promote total relaxation within the body. Hence, the TOTO Flotation Tub elevates the user’s feet, create an experience akin to if they were sinking into the sea. Combined with soft LED lights, water jets and a neck pillow, this innovative zero-gravity design will give users a luxury spa experience in their home bathroom.
