With multi-functional, open-plan homes fast becoming the norm, you might find yourself day-dreaming about modernising your kitchen. But of course, before committing to anything, you need to see how it might look – not just on a screen, but from the inside. You’ll want to walk around, interact with the technology, touch the finishes. You might even want some advice and demonstration.

The Design Your Perfect Kitchen & Bathroom (DYPKB) event by Cambridge Kitchens provides exactly this. Hosted at the incredible Potton Show Centre in St Neots, guests will have the benefit of five show houses with fully-functional kitchens and bathrooms, each brimming with high-end appliances and furnishings from the top brands on the market, such as Neff, Bosch, Siemens, Callerton, Blum, Corian, Cosentino, Franke and more.

DYPKB starts with a meet and greet in the reception house, hosted by Design Consultant, Susan Humphries, and Designer, Penny Pyle. After coffee, Cambridge Kitchens’ Director Dylan Wade-Gledhill will give an insightful presentation, outlining the crucial considerations for designing your oft-dreamt kitchens and bathrooms. Susan will then prime you on what materials, appliances, and aspects of design to look out for in the five show houses, where you will get a chance to twiddle with the taps, stroke the surfaces, and utilise the utensils, as you’re set free to explore:

Caxton Cottage, with its inglenook fireplace, sloping ceiling, and wooden beams; showing how you can update a cottage-style home with a contemporary aesthetic.

Gransden, from the heritage range, boasts all the charm of yesteryear. The kitchen and dining room provide you with an exemplary open-plan living space.

Wickhambrook cleverly combines a barn-style exterior with a modern interior that demonstrates the benefits of solar panels and a rainwater harvesting plant.

Elsworth, the UK’s first home to be built to Passivhaus standards, will be of interest to the ecologically minded, with triple-glazing, mechanical ventilation and heat recovery systems.

Lastly, Milchester, a large rectory house, is being renovated to have a grand, traditional interior come its re-launch in February, ready for the next DYPKB event in March.

After which, you can feast your eyes on the amazing food being cooked by a BSH Home Economist; who demonstrates how the latest kitchen appliances and technologies can make your life easier, before inviting you to tuck in and enjoy!

Before leaving, guests will have the opportunity for one-to-one appointments with the kitchen and bathroom experts from Cambridge Kitchens.
