When Pantone announced at the end of December 2017 that “Ultra Violet lights the way for what is yet to come,” they spoke with prophetic accuracy. Most recently, bespoke kitchen designer Rencraft has reacted to Pantone’s 2018 Colour of the Year, Ultra Violet, with a ‘Pretty in Purple’ kitchen installation.
The kitchen’s island, which is hand-painted in a rich purple hue, similar to that of Pantone’s Ultra Violet, reflects the company’s clients’ increasing desire for bold colour schemes and stand-out shades.
“Our client for this project wanted to bring a touch of country charm and character to their bright, modern extension,” explains Robert Waite, Rencraft Director and lead designer on the project.
Waite continues, “The colour scheme sees the rich, luxurious purple of the island perfectly paired with the subtle pink-toned whites that have been used elsewhere. The end result is a soft yet inviting contemporary take on a traditional country-style kitchen with plenty of natural light.”
Karen Cowell, Rencraft’s Marketing Manager, is also delighted to see purple hitting the headlines, adding, “As an anecdote to grey, purple is the ideal choice. It is often associated with royalty, so adding purple to your kitchen design can bring with it a sense of opulence and luxury, but it also has an extra dimension to it as well. In spiritual terms purple tends to be connected to healing and balance, adding calmness and a sense of well-being to the home. A welcome retreat from our otherwise hectic world.”Rencraft | rencraft.co.uk
