Laufen celebrate their 10th Anniversary by introducing their classic Alessi One collection

It is said that for a design to be considered a ‘classic’, it has to pass the test of time. Well, the Alessi One collection by Laufen celebrates 10 years since its launch in 2002 and looks as fresh now as it did then. Designed by Stefano Giovannoni, Alessi One has been a big success for Laufen. The star of the collection is perhaps the Tam Tam washbasin, a delicate yet distinctive piece of ceramic that seems to define the range.

The success of Laufen’s Il Bagno Alessi One collection, both now and in its original form ten years ago lies in it being timeless yet bang up-to-date, a secret that, according to Giovannoni, lies in the simplicity. He says: “The products do not distinguish themselves by their details but by their strength, the clarity of their concept and their primal forms, transmitting a message of purity and expressiveness. It really seems to be a timeless archetype, fashionable yet not following any particular style, like something created by nature itself.”

To mark 10 years, Giovannoni and Laufen have worked together again to launch new additions to the collections including semi-recessed and new larger countertop basins, as well as new products including the ‘Tuna’ basin, a new set of half-sized ‘Tam Tams’ and a new electronic tap.
