How to maximise you current kitchen views and exterior dining spaces ready for the summer

Here comes summer… with the kitchen being the place we spend most of our time, when planning your kitchen don’t forget to maximize on any great views you may have, and ensure you plan its design so in better weather you can optimise outside dining space by simply sliding open the doors and spilling outside…

Having a light-filled kitchen is good for the soul. Not only will you want to spend every waking minute in there, you’ll feel more alive and positive as the effects of sunlight work their magic.

To take full advantage of any outside areas, you need to think about just how you will use the space in your kitchen. The simplest idea is to consider the orientation of the cabinetry and especially the island (if you’ve room for one), and angle it so you’re looking out on to the garden while cooking. Or maybe you can install larger windows? They make all the difference particularly if they’re south facing, as light will stream in.

We’re restricted in the UK to really only using our outdoor space in the summer months, so it’s important to ensure you still get that uplifting feeling of being in the garden, even when you’re not. Installing bi-fold doors, an extension with roof lights or (if your budget allows) adding a conservatory with under floor heating, UV glass and blinds so it’s usable throughout the year are also worth considering. Let us inspire you, so you too experience that light-filled summer feeling all year round…
