Extending the options – we take another look at the ‘hot topic’ of range cookers

There truly is an extensive list of options when it comes to range cookers; from colour to size, shape, functionality and style, recent developments in the market mean almost anything is possible. Here are another few of our favourites…

ILVE – The Majestic Roma 100cm Twin Dual Fuel range cooker from ILVE has a 53-litre multi-function oven side-by-side with a 43 litre five-function static oven. Each oven is fitted with catalytic self-clean oven liners, is A-rated for energy efficiency and the main oven is fitted with a programmable temperature probe. There are seven standard colours to choose from for the Majestic Roma including Midnight Blue, Cream and Burgundy. It is shown here in Green with chrome trim, but there is also the option of having the appliance colour-matched to over 200 RAL colours.

CDA – Launching next month, CDA’s new RVC931 country style range cooker marks a move into colour for the brand. The 90cm range has a fan oven, eight-function multifunction oven, electronic timer, a separate grill, five burner gas hob (including a wok burner) and a plate warmer. A matching chimney extractor is also available. The range comes in cream or black.

Belling – The British-made Belling Cookcentre 900df dual fuel range cooker features a one-piece steel hotplate with integrated spillage wells and a 4kW PowerWok. It also has a tall oven with a 90-litre capacity. Steve Dickson, Head of Category for Range Cooking at Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, said that despite a shifting range cooker customer demographic towards a younger age group, the traditional aesthetic remains popular: “Our research found that the under 35s account for almost 40% of the market. Interestingly within that younger age bracket, almost a third still opted for traditionally styled appliances showing that it is not all about being contemporary.”

Smeg – Smeg’s A1-9 Opera Range Cooker has been redesigned and now features intelligent Eclipse glass technology and an intuitive TFT display
with a choice of over 50 automatic cooking programmes. Functionality on the new model has also evolved, offering a versatile range of features as well as an A+ energy rating, thanks to its new isothermic cavity.

Rangemaster – Rangemaster’s Infusion range cooker is available in 90, 100 and 110cm widths, and with a choice of dual fuel or induction fuel types. The entry point 90cm dual fuel model has a 73-litre left-hand fan oven featuring a porthole door and telescopic shelf, a tall solid door 67-litre fan oven, a glide-out grill and a professional style hob with four burners plus a 3.5kw multi ring burner. There is also a Teppanyaki griddle for use on the gas hob, increasing cooking flexibility. The 90cm induction model has five zones, all with hot hob indicators. Trading up to the 100cm version increases the oven sizes to 73 and 82 litres while the top of the range 110cm model has an 80-litre conventional left-hand oven and a 73-litre right-hand fan oven, both with window doors and a useful storage drawer. The hob has five burners plus a 3.5kw multi ring, whilst the induction model has five zones. Infusion is available in Stainless Steel, Black and Slate finishes.

Featured: The Esse 990 EL features surround heat technology which uses elements that ‘wrap around’ each of the cooker’s three ovens for completely even temperatures. The model also includes a specially- cast adjustable vent to control moisture for different recipes. The electric range cooker is powered by two 13Amp plug sockets and can be placed anywhere in the kitchen without a chimney. It is available in 20 vitreous enamel colour options.
