Throwback Thursdays to Catalonia’s ‘Inspired in Barcelona: in & out’ Milan design exhibition

During this year’s hotly anticipated Milan Design Week, which occurred 4th – 9th April, Catalonia Trade & Investment in partnership with BCD – Barcelona Centre de Disseny, presented the hugely successful first “Inspired in Barcelona: in & out” design exhibition. The project involved collaborations with some of Catalonia’s most renowned companies and important designers and enticed the attention of over 6,000 visitors.

The exhibition was held at the prestigious Palazzo Isimbardi, and showcased products from companies such as Santa & Cole, Marset, Vibia, Metalarte, Bover Barcelona Lights, Estiluz, Jordi Canudas, Parachilna, Carpyen and Numbered, alongside collaborations with Patricia Urquiola, Jaime Hayon, Eugeni Quitllet, Lievore Altherr Molina and Miguel Milà, to name jut a few. Each element, product and collaboration was csrefully considered to best show the creativity and potential that a large, eclectic and culture rich city like Barcelona has to offer.

This shows namesake city: Barcelona boasts daring and creative design on every level, which can be seen in everything from the streets, benches, lighting and pavements, to stylish homes which blend Mediterranean creativity with the latest international innovations.

Exhibition curator Emiliana Design Studio, recreated an evocative atmosphere inspired by life in Barcelona, inviting visitors to follow an ‘in and out path that was decadently adorned with light installations, while separate ‘rooms’ reflected a home environment, and the internal courtyard of Palazzo Isimbardi was transformed into a crowded ‘plaça’.

Isabel Roig, director of BCD – Barcelona Centre de Disseny, commented: “The ‘Inspired in Barcelona: In & Out’ exhibition was a success in every sense. The companies and designers that took part, together with the exhibition concept created by Emiliana Design and Clase BNC’s captivating graphics, allowed international visitors to experience the culture, design and lifestyle that Barcelona has to offer.”
