Another of our favourite style spots at this year’s Ideal Home Show has to be the Liv-In Beach Hut, sponsored by Nationwide.
A unique twist on the classic British beach hut, this striking project focussed on making a ‘sleep-over-style’ property that could provide year-round accommodation for four to six people, while still maintaining that classical, beachy feel. Created through the collaboration of Hudson Architects and MFA Property, this off-the-peg design incorporates a fitted bathroom, elevated open-plan kitchen and lounge area – with an in-built wood burner – alongside a private terrace and BBQ area. While a mezzanine sleeping area on the second floor will allow you to wake up to beautiful sea views, visible through the double-height windows.
Each element of the interior design focuses on a strong, scandi-inspired theme, but not forgetting the beautiful beachy touches that add heaps of character and reflect the projects origins: the humble beach hut. The kitchen itself embraces a cool, deep blue hue with calming, neutral-coloured worktops. White vertical panelling also clads the walls of the kitchen-living area, to give it an authentic holiday-style edge, and is set off with statement furniture pieces. The bathroom continues this wood-panelled aesthetic, with subtle seaside-inspired accessories and crisp white sanitaryware.
The collaborative design duo plan to launch this striking Liv-In Beach Hut concept to the public sector and look to work with councils to craft more of these stunning seaside developments.
