Sparkling new Editor, Anna-Marie Casas, welcomes readers to her first issue of Utopia Magazine

From the editor…

Firstly, please allow me to introduce myself as the new editor of Utopia Kitchen & Bathroom and say how excited I am to be at the helm of this leading, award-winning publication.

I’m no stranger to editing magazines, but this is the first time I’ve dipped my toe deeply into the world of luxury kitchens and bathrooms – and I’m already hooked!

There’s little that impresses and inspires more than seeing a stunning, state-of-

the-art kitchen or an uber-glam bathroom. I get the same feeling taking in scenes of spectacular locations in holiday brochures.

But there’s a big difference…that dream break in the Seychelles is very much short-lived, unless you have the fortune of owning a property there. With a brand spanking new kitchen or bathroom, that wow moment can be relived day in, day out for a very long time. And you can share your personal paradise with all your family and friends over and over again.

Over the years, I’ve had two homes in need of some TLC fully renovated and, looking back, my biggest project successes and failures have been in the kitchen and bathroom. There’s a reason why the experts tell you how important it is to get a good designer from the outset and to get all parties involved in on the act during the early stages.

Another key to success, particularly in the kitchen, is creating a great focal point and, with this in mind, I’ve put together some fantastic examples of centre-pieces that I hope will get the creative juices flowing – from amazing kitchen islands to jaw-dropping lighting, Centre of Attention (p44).

For those of you feeling bold, I’ve also selected a great line-up of patterned flooring that will give your bathroom some pizzazz, Perfect Patterns (p64).

Hope you enjoy!
