From the editor…
Welcome to the October issue of Designer Kitchen & Bathroom. There are some seriously inventive ideas in the magazine this month. For a start, we consider the ways in which retail studios can ensure the first impression that they make with a potential client is a winning one by setting in place all the elements that ensure maximum trust and confidence.
We also round-up some of the very latest worksurfaces and tiles, picking out a range of options for creating the kind of design edge that might just be the ideal solution for your next brief.
We’ve been on the road in search of fresh thinking too. We report from Berlin, Germany, where Miele unveiled its Dialog oven – quite possibly one of the most startling new product launches of recent years. Find out more on page 80. There’s also a report from a remarkable event at Franke’s HQ in Aarburg, Switzerland, where a stellar line-up of speakers shared their visions of the future of design. French design star Philippe Starck spoke about the “duty of creativity” to deliver meaningful products that enhance people’s lives, whilst Matteo Thun pondered the relationship between nature and architecture. Find out more on page 50.
Last but not least, we’re very pleased to announce the finalists in this year’s Designer Kitchen & Bathroom Awards – see www.kb-eye.com/awards for details. Congratulations to everyone shortlisted and best of luck for 22 November when the winners will be revealed.Designer | kb-eye.com/designer
