Rotpunkt, specialists of tailor-made furniture design, were selected by their long term retailing partner Day True, to craft an exclusive kitchen, in a Georgian townhouse located in the heart of Marylebone, London. The collaborative team aimed to blur the boundaries between the kitchen and living areas, for a contemporary furniture style design.
To maximise the space available, the cabinetry and island both sit at the same height, providing a natural balance between the two areas, while simultaneously making a compact working triangle for the homeowner. The far right wall features full-length cabinetry in a mild grey hue, which subtly blends into the overall design and provides plentiful storage for the space without being visually overbearing. The marble, used in a waterfall pattern on the island, is a durable and visually striking selection, while its cantilevered edge allows the island to work as a casual dining area, as bar stools can be tucked underneath. In keeping with the fairly minimalist theme, this practical addition will work to keep the space clean and clutter free.
The same marble is used again to clad the far wall. This dually works as an attractive backdrop and a practical splashback for the flush-fit induction hob and integrated sink. Equally, this pale marble and matt grey lacquered cabinetry allows for the brass extractor hood, brassware and pendant lights to maintain visual attention.
