deVOL’s Sebastian Cox kitchen makes a contemporary style statement in this rural Kent location

This striking property required a kitchen that would stand up to the grandeur of its surroundings; fortunately, deVOL’s Sebastian Cox kitchen collection was just the ticket.

The idyllic home is a contemporary barn renovation located in the rural Kent countryside, it presents a modern, open plan layout, views to rival Tuscany and black-bordered full length windows in every direction. The large house was packed with character thanks to the owners’ easy-going attitude to décor, with personal treasures and an eclectic mix of colours and materials.

The Sebastian Cox kitchen is relatively minimal yet stylish and features a 5-metre long run of base level cabinetry alongside a striking island. This combination provided a mass amount of preparation space for the owners, while its Inky Blue finish juxtaposes the warm wooden surroundings and allows the texture of the rough sawn timber body to peek through. The worktops are crafted from Carrara marble and a Rustic Oak material on the island, which ties in with the flooring and the full wall of wooden panelling that houses three capacious larder cupboards and a fridge freezer, allowing the open plan space to remain uncluttered.

deVOL’s Creative Director Helene Park commented: “It’s becoming more important to us all to look after our world and cherish the beauty of nature and not be wasteful or throwaway. The Sebastian Cox range epitomises this way of thinking and living; English timber, cupboards built here in Leicestershire, a lightness of design that is not fashionable, more a lasting piece of furniture that will age beautifully.”
