Coming together – Aqata helps create homely flats for soldiers and their families at RAF Coningsby

The holidays are a time to spend with friends and family, but for those stationed away from home, it can be a tricky co-ordination of expensive hotels and long drives just to have their family with them. Fortunately, Aqata, alongside a myriad of other designers and manufacturers have helped to refurbish the welfare flats of RAF Coninsby.

The newly designed accommodation means those stationed away from home can have their families come and stay with them in a homely and comfortable environment.

Aqata collaborated with retail partner Lincoln-based Luna Living – who was originally approached by Flt Lt Greenwood at RAF Coningsby to help with the refurbishment. Rather than simply supplying a few essential bathroom products, the two companies decided to completely refurbish the bathrooms, including everything from tiles to taps.

The bathroom designers at Luna Living created designs for each of the rooms. The planning was meticulous, to avoid too many alterations to the existing plumbing and fabric of the rooms. While Aqata also supplied a collection of its Spectra SP495 bath screens, to help transform these once outdated wetrooms into stylish bathroom suites.

Jayne Barnes, Managing Director of Aqata, commented: “We are a family-owned British company and when we were asked to work on the RAF refurbishment, in partnership with Luna Living, we just couldn’t say no to such a worthy cause. Knowing that our contribution towards the newly refurbished bathrooms will make life easier for the personnel and their families at RAF Coningsby is incredibly rewarding.”
